EvacCouncil - 6 American University at Cairo University -Evacuee Council 11 Nov 56 Geneva - Switzerland 5:15 PM present: Mr. Culbertson, presiding, Mr. Conn, Dr. Hollenbach, Dr. Provinse, Mrs. McLain, Dr. Chavarria, Mr. Horton. Report,: Resort of the Committee on Geneva Pro ram: Dr. Hollenbach submitted a report on suggested activities for teaching staff. Dr. Provinse reported on pos-sibilities for the research staff. It was decided to report the suggestions to the staff in anticipation of personal consultation with each staff member about his own program while in Geneva. It was decided to have a central clearing-house for such things as inform-ation relative to activities in Geneva of any staff member, requests for speakers, etc. In those cases where staff members are asked to speak on a personal basis, the staff member is asked simply to report the matter to the clearing-house for information only. It was suggested that staff members be on guard against speak-ing to unknown groups or organizations and make prior inquiries as to the nature of the group or organization before accepting speaking engagements. The clearing-house is to be room 3 (44) Hotel de l'Athenee. Report,: Report of the Committee on Finance: The committee reported that they considered two questions: 1. 'ghat ought Council to recommend to Board of Trustees insofar as financial hardship of families concerned? 2. How should the faculty contribute to the relief efforts cf the AUC staff in Cairo? 1) On the first question various possibilities were discussed and it was decided to inform the staff that various recommendations would be made and that their nature and extent were still to be approved by the Board of Trustees. 2) On the second question no report was made.
