I American University at Cairn University Evacuee Council Aboard U.S.S. Genc rn.l Patch 8:30 PM 4 November 1956 1. Present: Mr. Culbertson, presiding, Dr. Hollenbach, Mrs. McLain, Mr. Ccnn, Dr. Provinse, Dr. Chavarria, and Mr. Horton, secretary. 2. The meeting was opened with silent prayer. 3. Plan for next two weeks. Two basic propositions were accepted: a) that the temporary headquarters of the AUC evacuee faculty be in Geneva. b) that the time spent away from Cairo should be spent constructively. Mr. Culbertson and Mr. Conn reported that funds had been requested by cable from New York to be available upon arrival at Naples. The following committees were appointed: a) Committee for Geneva arrangements: Hollenbach Provinse Horton b) Travel Plans Mrs. McLain Mr. Targett Dr. Hirabayashi c) Financial Policy and Procedure Mr. Culbertson Dr. Chavarria Mr. Conn These committees were asked to submit preliminary reports to Council at 4:30 PM on 5 November. Mrs. McLain was asked to arrange with Mrs. Harvill about securing the informa-tion necessary for living arrangements of families. It was decided to ask Mrs. Harvill to be Administrative Assistant and Mrs. Johnston to be Secretary to the Evacuee Council. The need for an Activities Committee after establishment in Geneva was mention-ed. Mrs. McLain was asked to be chairman of the committee and to co—opt other persons for the committee, 11/ 4. Time of the next meeting. The next meeting of the Council will be held on 5 November at 4:30 PM. 5. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 10 PM
