Board Minutes -2- October 28, 1982 which is attached for your information. Student enrollment decreased slightly this fall from 2,225 in 1981/82 to 2,142 in the current year. New student enrollment decreased from 654 to 545, mainly due to smaller than expected enrollments in the Arabic Language Unit and in the non-degree programs. These developments have been examined in several Trustee Committees. There is some belief that, in language teaching particularly, higher tuition rates have been a factor in the decline. The ratio of male to female students in the University has remairied much the same as last year: 62.7% female and 37.3% male.
