The Committee pointed out the need for increasing development staff in Cairo and in the U.S. The Committee agreed that the tuition rates for the 1982-83 Academic year should be as follows: 1. Foreign Tuition - $4000.00. 2. Arabic Language Unit - $4600.00. 3. Local Tuition - LE900-950. The Committee directed that the local tuition fees should be in the range of LE900-950 and requested the President to work out an appropriate level within that range. Dr. Pedersen reported that as our fees increase we may become vulnerable to loss of students and that more vigorous programs of student recruiting will be required in the Middle East to maintain and improve our percentage of foreign stude~ts. 5. ~~QQ!! The U.S. Committee now numbers 60. Membership additions since the last report include Donald M. Kendall (Chairman, PepsiCo.), Dr. Armand Hammer (Chairman, Occidental Petroleum), E. C. Bavaria (Vice President, General Electric, London). Seventy percent of corporate members have made campaign gifts or pledges. There is $700,000 in requests pending and if successful the U.S. total should go over $4 million by the February Board Meeting. §gXQ! - In Egypt there has been steady progress since the last report. Over $600,000 has been raised in gifts and pledges for the campaign. This represents a $300,000 increase from last report and includes two recent $100,000 lead gifts from the banking community
