Agenda: The agenda was approved. 2. Minutes: 3. The minutes of the May meeting were approved. Report on 1986 Admissions and Plans for February 1987: Enrollment: Dr. Pedersen summarized the student profile report for the first semester of the 1986-87 academic year which was prepared by the Office of Admissions and Registration. Total enrollment this year is 2729. This fall 385 students were admitted into degree programs. Of these, 220 were Egyptians paying the subsidized tuition; 88 were Egyptians paying full tuition and 77 were international students paying full tuition. Total Egyptian enrollment is 76% and international is 24%. Of those enrolled in degree programs, 80% are Egyptians and 20 % are international students. The male/female ratio has slighty improved with 43% of the students male, 57% female. Total enrollment while slightly increasing is short of anticipated enrollment for this fall by about 100 students. This was caused by attrition of undergraduate students, 40 who were suspended for academic reasons, and 70 who either withdrew officially or did not return. This is an increased phenomenon. The Registrar's Office is analyzing the reasons why it has occurred. Up to this time, the University has not looked at its dropout rate. When the study of the last five years student attrition rates is completed, the results will be reported to the Committee. Because of the attrition rate, more students will be taken in for the spring semester. This will bring the total undergraduate intake to 600 for the 1986-87 academic year. Of these, 300 will be Egyptians paying the subsidized tuition; 150 will be Egyptians paying the full tuition; and 150 will be international students paying full tuition. (R/P
