Iskander, J. Montassir, K. Saunier Approval of the Agenda Approval of Minutes of last meeting 1. REPORT ON NEW ADMISSIONS & STUDENT ACTIVITIES Dr. Allam presented the report on Statistics of Student Enrollment (copy attached). The report is self-explanatory. The long-range plan is to have 2500 ful1-time-equivalent students. Because of this the University has started increasing the size of its undergraduate enrollment. The graduate program, however, is declining slightly and it is difficult to predict why. Applications are down in all areas except Management in which there is a slight increase. There has been a remarkable drop in ALU and Non-Degree students. Reasons given were: (a) the Lebanon situation; (b) the loan money cut to American students and approval for reinstatement of funds coming too late. Dr. Allam stressed that it was important to do something in the way of financial aid for these students. Dr. Reed suggested we talk to 20 or so American students to see what factors help determine their decision in coming or not coming to AUC. Mrs. Bartlett asked why ALU enrollment had dropped and if we really do have space for more students since she had heard to the contrary. Dr. Allam assured the committee we do have space and that it is not good for enrollment to drop because it creates financial problems for the University. With regard to the cutting-off score, Dr. Allam informed the committee that it had dropped for the second semester of this year. Nevertheless, half the class scored over 90%. He also mentioned tha
