MINUTES OP THE MEETING- OF COUNCIL SEPT. 18, 1939. 11:00 A.M. 1928. PRESENT: Dr. Cleland, in the chair; Messrs. Conn, Badeau, Amir, Vandersall. 1929. FAREWELL FOR DR. McCLENAHAN: Dr. Cleland reported that the Trustees had authorized using as much as L.E. 30.000 for a University farewell for Dr. and Mrs. McClenahan on the occasion of their retirement (see No. 1920). Council approved these tentative arrangements: a) Counting on October 10th as the sailing date, the first staff prayer meeting will be on Wednesday Oct. 4 at 6:00 P.M. b) A meeting for the alumni and the staff of all departments of the University will be on Tuesday October 3rd at 8:30 P.M. c) A reception for faculties and officials and dignitaries will be held on Thursday October 5th at 5:30 P.M, d) Dr. Cleland was asked to prepare and deliver the invitations for both of these meetings. e) Mr. Badeau was asked to arrange with Dr. Gilbert Ibrahim regarding the program and the refreshments for the gathering on Tuesday. i f) Mr. Conn and a committee were asked to arrange for refreshments at the Thursday gathering, - Mesdames Badeau, Boktor, Adams, Cleland, Smith, Conn, and Vandersall. NOTE: Since this action was taken, the sailing date was changed to Oct. 12th. The prayer meeting was set for Tuesday Oct. 10 at 6 P.M.; The Alumni gathering was set for Monday, Oct. 9, at 8:30 A.M. 1930. ADJQNRNMENT: Council adjourned at 11:50 A.M. H. W. VANDERSALL, Secretary
