3669 3670 3671 3672 3673 3644 PRESENT: MINUTES OF COUNCIL 1st Feb., 1955 - 11 a.m. President McLain, presiding; Messrs. Howard, oktor, Conn, Hanna Rizk, Schoonover, Provinse, Vandersail Dr. Schoonover led in pirayer. PRESIDENT Council -welcomed Dr. Raymond F. McLain, who took up McLAIN: his duties as President of the University on 1 Jan. 1955. He and ^rs McLain arrived in Cairo on 26 Jan. In accord -with ft- 3363 (c) a tea party was held on 27 Jan., at which time all of the University staff welcomed President and Mrs :..cLain. PERSONNEL Dr. McLain presented for discussion a draft of a INFORMATION revised form to be ased for applicants in the FORM: U.S.A., who ask or whom we ask to consider appointment to A.U.C. It was found generally acceptable, and certain revisions were proposed, which will be considered later. UNIT Dr. McLain presented a draft of a form he wants to INFORMATION use to get information from each Dean regarding the FORM I : amount of teaching, administration etc., carried on in each Faculty. After discussion of suggested changes, the matter was deferred to the next meeting. GENERAL There was a discussion of the agenda for the meeting STAFF of the teaching and administrative staff to be held MEETING: tomorrow, 2nd February. There was difference of opinion as to whether such a meeting should be opened with prayer. The decision was left to Dr. McLain. ADJOURNMENT: Council agreed to hold its regular monthly meeting at S on Saturday 5 Feb.,aand then adjourned at 1,05 PM. H.W.Vandersail Secretar
