3272 - PRESENT: MINUTES OP COUNCIL November 3, 1951 10:00 a Mr, Madison, presiding; Messrs. Gardner, Namani and Vandersall. CLr. i VS/ V Beck Bo Mr. Madison opened the meeting with prayer. 3273 - MINUTES: The minutes of the meetings of October 6 and October 20, 1951 - #3257 to 3271 - were approved as corrected. 3271+ - UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION: Dr. Boktor reported the request for and plan to publish an Arabic translation of the address of Dr. Harold Rugg, who was the guest speaker at Convocation on October 19> 1951. Mr. Madison was asked to send a letter of appreciation for his fine services and to request a copy of the speech. 3275 - CAMPUS CARAVAN: Mr. Namani reported that he talked with Mr. Blumberg (Minute #3262), who welcomed the suggestions of Council. He agreed to publish anything of news value submitted by the reporters who call weekly at the Faculty of Education, Division of Extension, and School of Oriental Studies. He cannot allot a certain space in each issue for these departments. He objects to dropping the word "official1* from the masthead. It was suggested that Mr. Blumberg and Mr. Namani look into the usage of "official" in other similar publications in the States. After discussion, it was suggested that the Administrative Faculty of the F. A. & S. consider this whole CARAVAN matter at their next meeting. Further action was postponed until after Council receives these recommendations. 3276 - TRUSTEES: Mr. Madison distributed copies of a summary of Trus- tees’ actions regarding new building covering the five meetings from November 19^8 through November 1950. Copies of this summary had been distributed to the members of the Cairo Building Committee and sent to Messrs. Horton and Badeau. Mr* Madison reported several communications sent by him to the Trustees and Dr. Badeau. At the request of Council these were read: October 19 letter to Badeau for printing in the CHRONI- CLE, letters of October 31 to Dr. Horton, letter of November 2 to Dr. Badeau, and letter of November 3 to The Board of Trustees. Other correspondence from Dean Howard and Mr. Hedke, Trustee at Detroit, were read in part. 3277 - PROMOTION: The Chairman urged that members of Council and all teachers and students be requested to exert the utmost personal efforts in contacts with American visitors.
