TvtttOTES OF THE COUNCIL OF THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY AT CAIRO ' ' MAY 8TH. 1926. 6«. -0R3AHIZATXpB - The Council of the American University at Cairo met on May 8th. with Dr. Watson presiding. The following were present: Dr. Watson, Dr. McClenahan, Messrs. McQuiston, Cleland and Jeffery. Dr. Watson opened the meeting with prayer. 553. -MINUTES APPROVED Minutes of the meetings of April 17th and May 1st were approved as typed. 554, —TRAVEL ALLO W— ANCE TO SHORT TERM TEACHERS It was recommended that allowances to Short-Term Teachers travelling to America (Cairo to New York) be granted according to the schedule drawn up by the Bursar* s Office, subject to the suggested revision of using Faber Line rate fdr transportation to Europe. (See schedule attached) 665. -COLLEGE CALENDAR Dr. McClenahan, Principal of the College of Arts and Science, presented the calendar of the College for the year 1926-27 as worked out by the College Faculty. This was approved. It was noted that this calendar provided for 33 weeks of study. 666. -SHEIKH MHD. SAD I Q. ANBAR Dr. McClenaha_jn reported that the contract with Sheikh Mhd. Sadiq Anbar had been extended for two years. 667. -ISHAQ HUSSEIN I Dr. McClenahan reported that negotiations were proceeding for securing Ishaq Husseini for the Department of Arabic of the College according to action of the Faculty. 668. COLIEGE CERTIFICATES & DIPLOMAS Council approved preliminary draft of College Faculty for its statement for the Catalogue for 1926-27 with reference to granting of Certificates and Diplomas dubject to modification of last paragraph, so as to read -’•It is the plan of the Trustees- to grant a final A.U.C. College Diploma conferring suitable degrees to students who will have completed the Senior Year.” 669. ADJOURNMENT Council adjourned
