MINUTES OF TITE COUNCIL OF THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY AT CAIRO—April 21, 1925. 164. ORGANISATION The Council of the American University at Cairo met April 21, 1923 with the following members present: Dr. C. R* Watson, Dr. R. S. McClenahan, Professors Cleland, Jeffery and Galt. Dr. Watson opened the meeting with prayer. 165. MINUTES The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. 166. ALLOWANCES The committees which had been appointed to prepare questionnaires on salary allowances presented their report in the form of a composite questionnaire. It was agreed that each member of the permanent Faculty should fill out this questionnaire independently and forward it in duplicate direct to Mr. Lum at Philadelphia* (See Appendix 10) 167. MISS WALKER’S SALARY It was agreed that salary payments and other allowances of Mis3 Walker as Secretary to the President cease as with April 30, 1923. 168. MR. JEFFERY’S SALARY It v/as agreed that in view of consent secured informally from Mr* Lum and Dr. Hill, that salary and allowances of married associate professor become operative for Mr* Jeffery as from May 4, 1923. 169. VACATIONS Professors Cleland and Galt v/ere appointed a committee to bring in recommendations concerning summer vac ax-ions • 170. SALARY ADVANCES It was recommended that, at the discretion of the bursar, short term teachers may be loaned as much as L.E.30 in advance on account of summer e:q?enses. 171.
