They will be playing in zone finals this weekend. Good Luck!! Searching for stories of ancestors who came to Magrath before 1912 by way of the narrow gauge railroad to Stirling, then proceeded to other towns. Were there Bingham's, Clifton's, Dudley's, Harker's, Gibb's, Ririe's, etc. Please write a brief account of them. It will be included The teams have been picked for 'Basketball' this year! The boys who will be putting on the Zeniths uniform for their last year are Cassio Maffia, Tyler Harris, Ryan Henderson & Darren Baker. In grade 11 the players are Tom Alston, Jess Zobell, Scott Clifton, Matt Johnson, Dane Gurney, Eric Nordquist and Jay Silverman. They are coached by Brad Sabey. Pumpkin pies were donated by the members and served for dessert after dinner. After dinner a sing song, of old and new was enjoyed by all who participated. Irene Gruninger directed us all in song and action. Fontella Trainer came and played the piano for us. We also were entertained by a song by Howard Fletcher. (He was successful in getting an Alberta court to find in his favour against the Alberta Govn. for wrongful dismissal from his job as a teacher because of his open homosexuality. The judge found in his favour, not because the law was on his side, but because she felt it should have been. Therefore she read into the law what she felt should be there and made her judgement based on that opinion.) This court action is going to require financial help from you, our members and the local public. The legal costs will exceed $6,000.
