For more information call: 758-3822 or 758-35021 L THERANlRVIN OLSEN" ~ of Magrath, beloved husband of Elizabeth Olsen passed away in Cardston on January 25, 2001 peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 71 years. He was bom February 14,1929 in Cardston. He was raised in Leavitt where he received his early education. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Cynthia (Lanny) Smith, Perry Olsen, Ernie Olsen, Clarke (Rosilyn) Olsen and his daughter-in-law, Jolayne (Mark) Hennessey - children of his first wife Ruth S. Olsen. He will also be sadly missed by his step­children, Roger (Shauna) Davies, Randy (Deb) Davies, Laurel (Arlen) Bennett. Greg (Noni) Davies, and Leanne (Joe) Cook. 42 grandchildren have been greatly blessed by his unconditional love and caring. He is also survived by his siblings, Rhea (Boyd) Jensen, Afton (Don) Shaw, Zola (Mac) McConnell, CaMn (Judy) Olsen and Kay (Pat) Olsen. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Olsen and his parents, Irvin and Alice Olsen. Theran served a mission to Virginia, graduated from BYU and taught school in Taber and Cardston, Crystal Spring and Standoff Colonies. Theran loved people and was known as a helpful loving husband, father, friend and neighbor. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities. Temple service gave him great enjoyment. Though gradually disabled by his illness he showed unfailing patience and kindness to all. He leaves a shining legacy of faith and example for his posterity to follow. The family wish to express deep appreciation to Dr. Kim Taylor and the wonderful staff at the Cardston Auxiliary Hospital for their loving care and dedicated service during Theran's final days. The family of Theran Olsen wishes to express deep gratitude for the many acts of kindness, food and visits we received. Pandas and Cubs The Pandas and Cubs have been busy this past week with games Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday, February 6, the Pandas took on Kate Andrews Pride and came out on top with a score of 65-39. Kelsey Helgeson hit for 19 points and Debbie Balderson added 10. In JV action Kate Andrews was able to beat the Cubs with a score of56-44. Lauren Balderson and Debbie Balderson led the Cubs with 15 and 14 points respectively. On Friday night the Pandas and Cubs hosted Taber W.R. Meyer Rebels. Debbie Balderson scored 23 points as the Pandas held off the Rebels 67-63. Kelsey Helgeson added 15 points. In junior varsity play, the Cubs doubled Myers 40-20 as Hayley Cook and Debbie Balderson scored 10 points each. Saturday night brought Catholic Central to Magrath. They were able to defeat the Pandas 59-42. Kelsey Helgeson scored 16 points for the Pandas. The Cubs, on the other hand, were able to come out on top with a score of 45-42 as Lauren Balderson netted 14 points. Welcoming enrollment from all cultures and denominations. Zeniths and Eagles Last Wednesday was an exciting night of basketball in the Tom Karren Gym as the Zeniths and Eagles hosted Taber W.R. Meyers Rebels. Taber came to the game with a lot of confidence but that confidence was not enough to defeat the Zeniths. The Zeniths beat the Rebels with a score of89-83. Jimmy Balderson dropped in 39 points with Shane Bly adding 16 and Brooks Blackmer 10. In JV action, the Eagles also came out on top with a score of 60-47 as Brad Sorpold scored 20 points and Brett Harris added 12. CARDSTON COUNTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Cardston County requires a motor grader operator to work in the Welling-Magrath area. This will be a call in position that will be paid at an hourly rate and only when road maintenance is required. Experience in operating equipment is essential, and some mechanical ability is required. The successful applicant will be required to maintain approximately 125 miles of gravel road, which would take approximately 900 to 1100 hours per year depending on the weather, along with other duties as requested. Cardston County will supply grader, parts, fuel etc. to the successful applicant.
