«M» Cj •jQftO- FIUAUCE: Council approved the minutes of the meetings of Finance Committee of April 1 and May 19, the principal items being: a. Mr. Edmund Alexanders request for a loan during a year of study, declined. b. Renewal of contract with Khalil Eff. Rizq. c. Hiring a clerk in the Bursar’s office. d. Purchase of public address system for Ewart Hall, and other routine business. 1881. PROPERTY: Council approved the minutes of the meeting of Property Committee of May 3rd containing only routine matters. 1882. HOSTEL: Council approved the minutes of the meeting of the Hostel Committee of May 15th covering routine matters. 1883. LIBRARY: Council approved a memorandum from the Library Committee dated May 18, 1939, regarding the budget for 1939-1940 and the allocation of funds for purchase of new books by various groups. Council recommended: a. Renewal of the contract with Mrs. Maurer and with Kamal Eff. on the same terms as the current year. b0 That Kamal Eff. should be notified that his contract should be interpreted as including a certain amount of work after 4 P.M. which he should not consider as ,lovertime1', entitling him to more pay. Council considers that he should be on duty on the days when Education Classes meet, and for such occasional extra time as the "Junior Library project". c. That the committee study whether the Extension Division can be included among those who can be given money for new books, and that If any money is available from the McKinney Fund, this be assigned to the Extension Division. 1884. "CAMPUS CARAVAN"; Council discussed a complaint regarding the recent publication of an article written by Mr. Campbell in which, it is alleged, fte jeopardized the reputation of the University, by saying things which might offenc Britishers, or the Egyptian Government.
