MINUTES OF TEE MEETING- OF COUNCIL JUNE 7, 1939♦ 11:00 A.M* PRESENT: President Watson, in the chair; Messrs. Cleland, Badeau, Conn, McClenahan, Vandersall. MINUTES: The minutes of the meetings of Council of May 20 and June 3, 1939, approved; No. 1889 (a) is corrected to read L.E.538.766 instead of L.E.708.166. BUDGET: Council approved the budget for 1939-1940. Total amount asked from U.S.A. L.E.15054.766 Tot§l local income 6090.000 Total expenditure in Cairo 21144.766 The total income asked from U.S.A. includes the L.E.538.766 to cover extraordinary items mentioned in No. 1889 (a). Corrected, see No. 1900. Cotmcil approved the Hostel Budget as submitted by Mr. Conn. Counting 12 students and 4 teachers the total income is L.E.768.000 and the total expenditure the same. INCOME TAX: After considering the two special requests in No. 1889 (d) and (e), Council authorized the President to s\ibmit the budget to the Trustees now for approval, and after the budget itself is approved, take up with them the question of income tax (retroactive to include Feb. 1939), and a pension' plan. SUMMER COUNCIL: Council voted that the members of council who remain in Egypt this summer be empowered to act as an executive committee in case any occasion should arise calling for immediate action. ORGANIZATION FOR 1939-1940: Council approved the following organization for 1939-1940. Dean Badeau is asked to consider whether the College wants to change its representative for the coming year.
