r Organization THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO Minutes Meeting of the Executive Committee New York City April 22, 1966 Meeting of the Executive Committee was held at the office of the University in New York, 866 United Nations Plaza, New York, N.Y. on April 22, 1966 at 12:30 P.M . Present: Messrs. Cole, Chairman, Dirks, Barco, Bartlett, Crary, Dohm, Newsom, Payne, Thorne, Thoron and Mrs. Hammond. Mr. Cole acted as Chainman of the meeting and Mr. Thoron acted as Secretary. Board Chairmanship Mr. Cole reported that although Dr. Dirks had indicated at the March Board meeting he would be unable to continue serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bartlett and other Trustees had approached Dr. Dirks about changing his mind. Dr. Dirks then gave a brief description of his plans for the coming year explaining that he would be away for a period of six months. He said, however, that he had been persuaded by a variety of comments from various people that with the help of Mr. Cole as Chainman of the Executive Committee and Mr. Barco as Vice Chairman he would be able to stay on as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Bartlett stated that there seemed to be definite advantages in not changing the Chairman at this time. Several present concurred with Dr. Bartlett and the Committee enthusiastically welcomed Dr. Dirks' continuance as Chairman of the Board
