THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO Minutes of the Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees December 5, 1973 The Recess, New York City Present were Mrs. Lord, Mrs. Reed, Mrs. Sanders, Messrs. Black, Crary (Chairman), Devine, Simpson, Thorne, Thoron, Van Vleck, Wells, and Mr. O'Connor as Executive Secretary. The Chairman of the Executive Committee, Mr. Crary, Called the meeting to order at 10:15 am. Inasmuch as a quorum for a meeting of the full Board was present, a motion was duly made and passed constituting the meeting as a meeting of ihe Board of Trustees. The Executive Secretary was asked to request waivers of notice from those Trustees not present in order to comply with the prOVision of the By-Laws concerning notice. (Such waivers have been subsequently received.) Mr. Thorne, Chairman of the Board, assumed the chair. 1. Adoption of the Agenda - The agenda was adopted as presented. 2. Discussion of the Presidency - President Thoron said that his health is such that there is uncertainty as to whether he will be able to return to Cairo and resume his full-time presidential responsibilities and that he, therefore, sub­mitted his resignation to the Chairman of the Board and consulted th
