I I I Minute #983 (Agenda I) Luncheon 984 Organization (Agenda II) The American University at Cairo MINUTES OF MEETING The Board of Trustees New York City, November 18. 1961 The forty-third annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the American UnIversity at Cairo was held at the Gramercy Park Hotel, New York City, on November 18, 1961, and was called to order by the Chairman at 12:30, following a pre­session meeting in which Dr. McLain briefed the Board on developments in Egypt since the last meeting. The dis­cussion contInued during luncheon. The Chairman reported receipt of letter of resignation from the Board from Mr. Harrison Garrett necessitated by other duties. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was RESOLVED That the resignation of Mr. Harrison Garrett as Trustee and member of the Executive Committee and as Recording Secretary of the Board be accepted with regret, such action to take effect at the close of this meeting; and be it further RESOLVED That the retirement of Dr. Douglas Horton as trustee and as Chairman of the Board, of Trustees be noted, as accepted under Minute #977 in the meeting of March 18. 1961, and that his assumption of the position of Honorary Life Trustee in accordance with the By-Laws be hereby noted. Mrs. Glen Lloyd, Chairman of the Nominating Committee. re­ported approval by mail ballot of the election of James Barco, George P. Bickford, Wilton D. Cole, Oscar John Dorwin,John Noble, Elmo B. Roper, Jr., and the Committee presented their names for formal election as follows: RESOLVED That the affirmatIve mail ballot for the following new Board members be honored and that their election to the Board be ratified and approved. such election to take effect as at the commencement of the Board meeting held on Novem­ber 18, 1961" for a term of three years and until the election and qualification of their successors: James Barco George ~, Bickford Wilton D.
