It was suggested that Dr. Russell's services be utilized in America until he secures other employment, possibly on financial research, and on calls to foundatIons and in­dividuals. The Chairman of the Board was authorized to present the Profile in Washington early in June at a joint meeting. of officials of A.I .0, the State Department, etc. The Profile represents the most recent and complete description of the University's program and aspirations; it was sug­gested that sections could well be used in presenting the UnIversity's cause to prospective donors. After very careful ~evlew and consideration and with full realization of the difficulty of raising the necessary funds, yet with the inspiring challenge of the program presented in the Profile before it, the Committee voted THAT the Budget for 1962-63 be approved as presented. (copy attached) Mr. Crary, as temporary chairman of the committee on finances reviewed the financial situation at the present time and stressed the necessity of cooperation from the trustees in securing funds . He read a letter to the Board which he had drafted and which had been considered care­fully by the President, Dr. Dirks. and the Vice President for finances, asking for names of friends who might be, or might become, interested in the University, for contacts in corporations, foundations, etc., and in making personal contributions. A number of changes were suggested and approval given to circulation of the letter to the Board. Ways of raising money were discussed and the necessity of securing contributions on a continuing basis considered. Procedure on approach to corporations and foundations was discussed in detail.
