The American University at Cairo r-:INUTES OF THE TT'IT:TY-IdIytTT1 ANNUAL MEETIIdG of TŸ'E BOARD OF TRUSTEES Cairo, Efrypt February 24 March 14 1958 878 ORGAITIZATIOII The Thirty-Ninth Annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the American University at Cairo was held at the University, 113 Sharia Kasr el Rini, Cairo, Egypt, 24 February - 1 March, 1958. The first session was called to order at 11:15 a.m. on 24 February by the Chairman, Dr. Horton, and opened with prayer. Present - Trustees present and active throughout: Messrs. Andrus, Dir1-s, Eddy, F. Harbison, Eedke, Horton, Van Vleck; Mesdames Lloyd and Stevenson. President McLain, Mr. Potter and Miss Lister were also present. Retrets for absence - received from Messrs. Cleland, Erdman, R. W. Harbison, Garrett, Gillespie, Habachy, Jewett, McClenahan, Weyerhaeuser, and Mrs. Oakes. lives of trustees were invited by the Chairman to sit in on the meetings as desired (Mesdames Horton, Andrus, Eddy, Hed1-e) ; and Mrs. McLain, Dr. Eddy was welcomed to the first meeting of the Board since his election. Mr. Potter was intro-duced as having begun services on January 1st as Assistant to the President in the field of fund raising, with headquarters in the New York office. Minutes of the Thirty-Eighth Annual Meeting of the Board held in New York City on 8-9 March 1957, and Minutes of the meeting of the Executive Committee held 16 November 1957 in New York City, were approved as distributed. Agenda, General and Detailed (Appendix A) was pre-sented by Dr. McLain and was accepted with apprecia-tion. Item 6, Interview with President Nasser, de-pended on his presence in Cairo. (Note: Because of President Nasscr9 s trip to Syria in connection with the announcement of the United Arab Republic, no meeting was possible.
