ORGANIZATION The Eighth Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the American University at Cairo was called to order at 10:15 A.M. on Friday, October 29, 1926, in the Yale Club, New York City. Dr. G. L. Robinson opened the meeting with prayer. 152. MEMBERS The following were present: H.P. Beach, W.I. Chamber- PRESENT lain, W.H.S. Demarest, R. J. Dodds, R. J. Frackelton, T. J. Gillespie, Jr., W.B. Hill, George Innes, Robert Killough, M. G. Kyle, J. H. Lockhart, E. E. Olcott, G. L. Robinson, F. O. Shane, J. M. Steele, J. W. Walker; President Charles R. Watson, A. A. Garthoff, Bursar in Egypt, and Secretary H. A. Lum. 153. ABSENCES and EXCUSES 154. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 155. APPOINTMENT OF NOMINATING COMMITTEE 156. REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Excuses for absence were presented from R. W. Harbison and Samuel Thorne. The Minutes of the Seventh Annual Meeting held in Pitts-burgh on November 13, 1925, were approved as typed and circulated. The Chairman appointed Dr. M. G. Kyle and Mr. R. J. Dodds to act as a Nominating Co,:mittee. The report of the Executive Committee (see Appendix A) was approved and the following recommendation adopted: THAT the Trustees approve the action of the Council in Egypt in granting Amir Effendi a bonus of LE.90 for the school year 1925-26, a salary of bE.400 per annum for the two following years, with a special provision that if he marries his salary will be-come LE.480 per annum from the date of his wedding. 157. PRESIDENT'S The Annual Report of the President was presented by REPORT Dr. Charles R. Watson (see Appendix B). 158. ADJOURNMENT FOR The meeting adjourned at 12 o'clock to allow the follow- COMMITTEE MEETINGS ing committees to meet: Finance, Education, Spiritual Resources, Buildings and Grounds, and Nominations. 159. LUNCH Luncheon was served at 1:15. During the lunch hour Mr. Garthoff spoke briefly on his satisfaction at being associated with the Trustees in the work in Egypt. Dr. Watson outlined the purposes of the founders of the University and he showed clearly how the University was today fulfilling these purposes to a remarkable degree.
