194 Report for 197-38 on the College of Arts & Sciences of A.U.C. by the Chairman of the College Faculty Mr. President: In the absence of Dean Galt on furlough, it fell to me to act in his place, not entirely as Acting Dean, but presumably only as Chairman of the College Faculty. However, the claims of College administration steadily increased and exceeded by far the measure of time allocated to them in the initial plans of the year, until regularly my mornings from 8 or 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. were devoted to the College and even many afternoons had to be given to its committee and faculty meetings.
