TRADUÇÃO CULTURAL E IDENTITÁRIA: QUATRO OLHARES SOBRE THE RAVEN

This article intends to make considerations about The Raven, a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, from the translations made by four famous authors: Machado de Assis, Fernando Pessoa, Stéphane Mallarmé and Charles Baudelaire. Some perceptions reached were that, although the translations made by Machado and Pessoa were in Portuguese, they bear little resemblance, not only by the fact that the authors belong to distinct cultures, but also different traditions. As for the translations by Mallarmé and Baudelaire, in prose, make us question to what extent the form does not end up superimposing the content. Still through the translations of those four (new?) texts, reflections on identity, authorship and originality become indispensable.Este artigo pretende tecer considerações a respeito de The Raven, poema de Edgar Allan Poe, a partir de traduções feitas por quatro autores famosos: Machado de Assis, Fernando Pessoa, Stéphane Mallarmé e  Charles Baudelaire. Algumas percepções a que se chegou foram que, apesar de as traduções de Machado e Pessoa serem em língua portuguesa, pouco se assemelham, não apenas pelo fato de os escritores pertencerem a culturas distintas, mas por pertencerem também a tradições diferentes. Quanto às traduções de Mallarmé e Baudelaire, em prosa, estas nos fazem questionar em que medida a forma não acaba por sobrepor-se ao conteúdo. Ainda por intermédio das traduções desses quatro (novos?) textos reflexões sobre identidade, autoria e originalidade tornam-se imprescindíveis
