UNIVERSITY COUNCIL LIBRARY COMMITTEE MINUTES 11 December 1951 A meeting of the Library Committee was held at 9 a.m. , December 4th, Present were Miss, Fair, Dr. Butros, Dr. Boktor, Mr. Hanson and as an ex-officio member , Mr. Madison. 15. The approved minutes of the last meeting were read. 16. Mr. Madison suggested that punched onion skin paper be used for the minutes so that they might be kept in loose leaf binders, 17. Miss Fair reported that binding is done as needed but that only a limited number of books are sent to the bindery at any one time because it is unddsirable to keep boo;ks out of circulation any longer than necessary. 18. Miss Fair said that in the future the library will attempt to ascertain the price of a book when it is ordered so that a check may be kept on the distribution of available funds. 19. The problem of magazine subscriptions was discussed. At present the library has no accurate check on what magazines are being received by the various departments. A Central Record for Magazines is to be set up as a means of recording what magazines are being received and when they should be renewed. 20. Dr. Butros was chosen to confer with Miss Fair on library budget problems. 21. Members of the Library Committee were invited to be present at the meeting of the Cairo Library Association in Oriental Hall on December 5th. 22. It was decided to invite Mrs. Nardin and Mrs. Frances Adams to come to the meeting of the Cairo Library Association. 23.
