LIBRARY Thursday, March 20, 1975 A special meeting was called to announce the results of votes submitted to the Faculty Chairperson regarding the appointment of a new Dean of Faculties. No names of candidates who have applied for the Dean of Faculties position will be included in The Caravan. Motion passed. The results of the votes from departments and units were read to the Assembly by the Chairperson. Based on the assessments and reports submitted by the departments and units, the Acting Dean of Faculties is now the prime candidate. Motion passed. There was a question from the floor asking if students had participated in the selection of a new Dean of Faculties. President Byrd reported that the High Board had reviewed the candidates' files and were unanimously in favor of Dr. Thomas Lamont. The President had requested the High Board to submit their views in writing to the Faculty Chairperson. The Chairperson stated that he did not receive any word from the High Board. Recommendation to the President and the Board of Trustees that Dr. Thomas Lamont be appointed Dean of Faculties. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon. Richard H. Dewey Secretary pro ter
