LIBRARY Thursday, ~ ~----— March 6, 1975 The results of the vote to decide on which University Committees students should be represented were announced. The only committee with sufficient votes (68) was the Library Committee. One hundred thirty-two Faculty members were eligible voters. Seventy-two voted and fifty-eight abstained. Two votes came in later than the announced deadline of February 22, 1975. Motion: To give an extension of ten days to those who did not vote. The Chairperson was asked to rule if this motion was constitutional. The Chairperson preferred to turn this decision over to the Assembly. The Assembly voted that the motion was in order. However, the motion failed to pass. Motion: Students should be permitted to continue to serve on University Committees on which they have been represented and that the issue of student participation on other University Committees should be re-opened at a later date. The motion passed. The Chairperson indicated that while accepting the wish of the Assembly, he felt that the participation of students in University Committees other than the Library Committee was a violation of the Faculty By-Laws.
