· , -6- 9. Non-Egyptian GCE Admissions: As of 1991, the GeE will no longer be accepted in the national universities as the equivalent of the Thanawiya 'Amma. After a study, England has also decided to phase out its acceptance of the GeE in favor of the GeSE. Since AUC is still accepting applicants who sit for the GeE outside of Egypt providing they satisfactorily pass a certain level, the Minister of Education has requested that AUC accept a small percentage of Egyptians who are living outside of the country and are still taking the GeE.
