entering the University during the 1989/90 academic year. Also approved was a proposal increasing tuition 12.5% (calculated in dollars) for students who entered AUC before 1988. d. The Executive Committee approved new courses in biology, art, music, construction engineering, and scientific thinking and the new faculty needed for these courses under the University's Long Range Plan. e. The Executive Committee authorized the President to expend up to $50,000 in Trustee supplements on an annual basis. f. Board Visiting Committee: The Executive Committee endorsed the visit to Cairo this spring of an ad hoc Trustee committee whose task would be to examine the University's committee structure. Dr. Pedersen suggested that the committee consist of Dr. Vandiver (as chairman), Dr. Bartlett, Mr. Bacon, and Mr. Hyde. The Executive Committee concurred. g. The Executive Committee approved the election of the following AUC Associate candidates: Tarek Hisham Mooro Kate Seelye Teresa Barger Hossam Fakhr Raymond Fisher h. The Executive Committee asked that Dr. Pedersen to conduct a further review of the Association of Universities in the Islamic World to insure that it is an appropriate organization for AUC to be associated with. 4. Information Issues: a. Dr. Pedersen briefed the Committee on the admissions and tuition problems encountered this year. b. Dr. Pedersen advised the Committee that the Council of University Presidents had approved the creation of an Egyptian private university.
