English program: Dr. Gibson noted the followins: - The major emphasis of the program continues to be quality enhancement, the completion of Key to English, Books V and VI, the development of a Computer Assisted Lansuaqe Learning Course (CALL), - a research is being conducted to help determine the learning needs of the students and how well the program is meeting these needs. Arabic language and translation program: - The t~o major objectives of the Arabic language and translation program are to increase the number of s "tu dents and to enhance the quality of the proaram. - Colloquial Arabic Book I and II were revised with additional exercises and drills. - Video tapes were prepared for use in colloquial standard Arabic classes. - Dr. Abdou hopes to have an establishment in Maadi and Zamalek to accommodate the increasing number of students, also hopes to expand offerin9s to include Arabic music, Arabic poetry, Arabic food and cooking recipes, Eqyptian women and Egyptian habits. Computer Education: - Enrollment in the certificate program continues to increase by 52~ whil enrollment in the evening part-time prosram increased by only 3.2!i for an overall increase of 13% over last year. - The draft curriculum of the two year diploma was developed and approved by the faculty and the DPS Administrative Committee
