Also attending: Mr. Marston Morgan Reporting: Mrs. Bartlett 1. Agenda The agenda was adopted. 2. Minutes The minutes of the May 1989 meeting were approved. 3. In going over the report from Dean Robert Brown, the high percentage of college graduates attending courses given by the Division of Public Services (61%) and by Outreach Services (80%) was noted by the committee. The purchase of a building was discussed. Dr. Pedersen said that he thought CACE was on the brink of closing the deal on a nine story building in Heliopolis. Marston Morgan, the University architect, reported that he had looked at the renovation needs of the proposed purchase. Although LE1,450,000 on such a purchase has been authorized, it seems the need after renovations might rise to LE 1,600,000. The question of the need for a nine-story building was raised. Dr. Toepfer reported that Dean Brown had adequate plans to use any "extra" space for housing and that the entire building will be used. Mr. Hyde addressed new programs mentioned in the May minutes: an International College of Technology to be establilshed in Cairo; a community college in Saudi Arabia; and technical and vocational training centers in Saudi Arabia -- all three projects to be funded by Saudia Arabian sources
