Division of Public Service - DPS enrollment increased by 12.5% in the fall and spring semesters of the current academic year, with total student enrollment exceeding 11,000. The greatest percentage increase was in the career certificate programs which increased at a 43.9% rate. As a result budgeted revenue for the 84-85 year was revised upwards by 20%. New certificate programs in Hotel Services and Travel and Tour Services were initiated in the fall. The DPS English Program is developing a computerized program for the teaching of English in cooperation with the Control Data Corporation which will train the faculty and provide 24 computers and software with a value of $250,000. DPS has prepared for discussion with the Minister of Higher Education and AID a proposal to provide DPS-type English language training in four Egyptian cities: Ismailia, Aswan, Minya, and Mansoura. Center for Industrial Training - The Committee reported the Center for Industrial Training provided programs for 740 students as opposed to 420 students in the preceding year. The bulk of the revenue generated was in the areas of Arabic and English language training. AUC Press - The revised 1985-86 budget projects total revenues of $1.1 million and for the first time a modest operating surplus of $50,000 is anticipated. Expanded editorial and marketing programs have resulted in the publication this year of 25 new titles on such topics as Egyptian historiography, Islamic Humanism, the Fayoum, Egyptian cooking and new translations of Naguib Mahfouz's novels. Coordinated through a new Publication Services office, printing services have included over 500 design, composition, printing and binding projects. Among these increasingly productive services have been complete photocomposition of scholarly books, original art work and cover design, full color printing of posters and calendars, and quality binding of paperback editions. With the opening of the new Hill House Bookstore this year, bookselling services at AUC will increase substantially. A Bookstore Advisory Council of students, faculty, alumni and other friends of AUC is exploring expanded services by the AUC Press. Jameel Center EDP Courses - The Center offered 23 standard EDP programs-rn the areas of general management, finance, marketing, production and personnel. These course were successfully completed b
