• • November 10, 1983 River Club MINUTES NOMINATING COMMITTEE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO Thursday 9:00 AM Attending: Mr. Devine (Chairman), Mr. Simpson, Mr. Winder Also attending were the following members of the Executive Committee: Mr. Crary, Mr. Hedlund, Mr. McCloy, Mr. Wadsworth 1. The agenda was adopted as presented. 2. Mr. Robert W. Page President and Chief Executive Office of Kellog-Rust was prosposed as a new Trustee. After some discussion the Committee approved Mr. Page pending an interview with Dr. Pedersen and Mr. Devine. 3. Several other candidates were discussed, among them the following: James Elkins (a lawyer in Houston) Vernon Taylor (mining and oil-related business, located in Denver) Peter Grace (on the Board of U.S. Trust) Bruce Hendersen (Vice President Manufacturers Hanover) Malcolm Forbes Lady Bird Johnson Martha Wallace Mr. McCloy agreed to follow up on Mssrs. Elkins and Taylor and determine their suitability and interest. 4. There was some discussion over appropriate rules and policies to govern the term of Trustees. Some Committee members felt that a system which produced a regular turnover would be advantageous to the University. No conclusions were reached. 5.
