Battle, Bickford, Black, Bliss, Crary, Devine, Hedlund, Reed, Simpson, Tamraz, Thorne (Chairman), Winder; also attending were Acting President Lamont; the Business Manager, Mr. Robinson; Mr. Snaith, UEEF; and Mr. O'Connor, Executive Secretary. 1. A motion was passed, adopting the agenda as proposed. 2. A motion was passed approving the minutes of the previous meeting. 3. Report of the Nominating Committee - The Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Mr . Devine, reported that after having reviewed over 200 names and having formally interviewed sixteen candidates, the Committee was recommending the appointment of Richard F. Pedersen as President. Mr. Thorne described the proposed five-year contract between Mr. Pedersen and the University in general terms and there were no exceptions raised. It was noted that the faculty had endorsed Mr. Pedersen's appointment overwhelmingly and are urging his appointment. A motion was passed appointing Richard F. Pedersen as President of the University for five years according to the terms of the proposed contract. It was noted that Mr. Pedersen hopes to take up his duties on approximately February 1, 1978. on
