The Committee reported that AUC's Mechanical Engineering Program was firmly in place and thought had to be given as to where the engineering curriculum might be broadened. Confirming an earlier conclusion of the Engineering Committee, . chemical and electrical engineering programs were being tabled at this time. After some discussion, the Committee believed that a non-degree graduate program in construction engineering was the most-needed next step. In addition, an undergraduate program in systems engineering was seen as desirable and the Committee felt that steps should be taken to develop a systems engineering program so that it could be introduced in 1984/85. The Committee also felt that a program focused on computer applications in engineering should be considered. There was some discussion over where the University's program in computer science could best be located. The Engineering faculty felt that the program would be most effective if it were under their auspices. Some Trustees were concerned that this would make the program inaccessible to non-engineering students. No conclusions were reached. 14. The meeting was adjourned
