I November 12, 1986 River Club MINUTES ENGINEERING COMMITTEE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO Wednesday 4:00 PM Attending: Mr. Harbert, Mr. Hedlund, Mr. Kruger (Chairman), Dr. Lamont, Dr. Pedersen 1. Agenda: The agenda was adopted as presented. 2. Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were approved. 3. Licensing of AUC Engineers: The Committee noted with approval the agreement to license our engineers. 4. Report on Engineering Services: The Committee was pleased with the work of the Engineering Services Unit but urged the Administration to make every effort to assure that both direct and indirect costs are covered by program revenues. 5. Proposal for Construction Engineering: The Committee agreed that construction engineering should be the next engineering program to be added to the engineering curriculum and felt that such a program would more effectively meet needs in Egypt than either chemical or electrical engineering. The Committee felt that the start-up and running costs of the proposed program should be calculated to ensure that its costs can be covered. If these factors can be met the Committee felt the program should go ahead without waiting for completion of the entire long range study. 6. Adjournment: There being no further business the meeting was adjourned
