1. 4240 -~ INTERIM EDUC!!TIONAL PROGRAM: The report of November 19 of the Interim Committee on Educational Program was read. Another report from Dr. McLain indicated that the Administrative Board of Ceii.o American College are also thinking along the sr .me lines, that is, developing their secondary school program and facilities to provide for the upper class students of the English and French schools who would apply to their school. The Council decided the following: a - To ask Messrs. Rizk Girguis, Vandersall and Gardner to meet with the Interim Council tomorrow at 9:00 a.m, in a special meeting for the discussion of the last report of the Committee on Educational Program. b - The Council is remindinf, itself to receive the report and to act upon the administrative aspects. 1, 4241 - ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m. Special meeting: tomorrow, November. 21 at 9:00 a.m. Michel Wahba Pro-tempore Secretary. Hanna Rizk, Dr, Boktor, Mr,Manucher, Dr, Husaini, and Mr.Wahba, Visitors: Messrs, Pizk Girguis, Vandersall and Gardner of the Committee on Interim Educational Program had been requested to attend and to participate in the discussion of the Committee's report on A.U.C. auxiliary units. Dr. McLain opened the meeting with prayer. 1. 4243 THE FRE-FRESIEIAN CLASS: The question of setting up a pre-freshman class was carefully discussed, especially as it affects or is affected by the following: 1 - The declaration in the press of the Ministry of Education that English and. French schools would continue to function under Egyptian administre.tion anc wit', changes in curriculum. 2 - The lack of information regarding the English and French teachers. Whether these teachers will remain in Egypt or not, or whether they will be allowed to come to Egypt or not is not known, 3 - The import of our secondary program on our relationship with the Ministry of Education. Assuming that the Ministry of Education is intent on changing and controlling the curriculum of the foreign secondary schools, will not our pre-freshmen program, insofar as it is related to the old curriculum of the foreign schools, jeopardize our relations ?lith the "Ministry of Education? 4 - The need, if any, of an emergency pre-freshman class to help students who are caught in the process of change. Assuming that foreign schools will continue to serve unc'er a new administration, will there not be certain upper class students who :.are caught in the process of change? If so, our pre-freshman class may still be needed, anc' will serve a good purpose
