1 9 5 1 Appendix G. October 28, 1922. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION OF THE AíAERICAN UNIVERSITY AT CAIRO For the year 1921-22. Meetings held: Since the last meeting of the Board of Trustees, two meetings of the Committee have been held on April 19, 1922, and on October 28, 1922. Last year your .Committee on Education came before you with most urgent request for cooperation in securing a permanent professor of Chemistry for whom a search had been made for two years. In addition, there was need for a man to take charge of the Department of English and for another man to t<<ke charge of the business administration of the University. Since then a need for four short term teachers has arisen. We are glad to report that all of these places have been filled. 1. Mr. Joseph F. Leete has been appointed permanent Professor of Chemistry. Mr. Leete is a graduate of Penruylvania. State College and has been a member of the faculty of the same institution for the past four years. 2. Mr. William A. Eddy has been appointed associate professor,to be attached to the Department of English of the College of Arts and Sciences, 1pith a view to his sailing for Egypt in the fall __of 192). ). Mr. J. M. Currie has been appointed Assistant Business Ad-ministrator under short term appointment. Mr. Currie is a graduate of Princeton University. Mr. Currie was appointed for a two year term commencing with the college year 1922-23 to act as Assistant Business Administrator, with the understanding that he rein for three years if his home conditions should permit. 4. Four short term teachers were appointed and sailed for Cairo in August 1922: (1) Mr. Klair L. Armstrong, short term teacher of Biiogy. Mr. Armstrong is a graduate of Lafayette College, and for the past year he has been a Junior at Princeton Theological Seminary. (2) . Mr. Douglas Coulter, short term teacher of English, i8 a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and during the past year he has been taking graduate work at the sa,Ae institution. (3) Mr. Cloyce K. Huston, short tern teacher of English, is a graduate of Iowa State University. (4) Mr. Theodore E. Miller, short term teacher of Physics, is a graduate of Lafayette College, and for the past year he has been a Junior at Princeton Theological Seminary. 5.
