Suvanto has continued with his good work of directing dramatics and, at the same time, making of it an effective educational instrument for development of personality and character and for training in responsibility and cooperation. I am happy to have arranged at the end of the year, as he was about to accept a position at Ibrahim Pasha University, for him to remain another year. I regret that Henry Shepard felt that it was necessary to ask release from the third year of his contract in order that he might accept a position in Germany. He has been a splendid teacher, and a good class adviser. His work as adviser to the Student Christian Association has been outstanding; I urge a careful reading of his heartening report. From Lanucher 1,,oadebzadeh continued valuable help was given in caring for the boys of the American Section. I am happy to report that he is willing to begin developing the work of an Alumni Secretary, an officer whom we have needed for years. His wide acquaintance with former students and alumni, his fine sense of values, his enthusiasm, his earnestnass make him eminently suited for the post. I wish to register my gratitude for the calm and gracious direction of the hostel by Abel Kader Naamani. It has been some years since we have had so satis-factory a year with the hostel students. Likewise I am deeply appreciative of his willingness to accept the role of acting dean for the coming year. It is re-assuring that his patience, balanced judgment, understanding, and sympathetic concern for the interests of all will be exercised for the good of the college. I would note, too, the unflagging loyalty and interest of Marcel Kiven, Abele 1 Aziz Ahmed, .4blel Hamil Yasin and H. Yi. Vandersall. By his devoted, earnest work each has made his special contribution and carried forward the work of the Faculty. My secretary, Miss Sarah Shaky, has shown a keen interest in the work of the office; she has been most cooperative, ready to help in emergencies and not given to undue clock-watching. For the agreeable relationships maintained with other departments of the University I am pleased. For your own direct participation in the affairs of the Faculty and for your supervision of the Philosophy department as well as your readine ss to give counsel on a variety of matters I am more than grateful. Your genial interest and your wise suggestions are of inestimable value to us all. I have left Cairo for a year's leave with no sense of weariness or strain but with hope for stimulation and refreshment so that I may return to do more effective work for A.U.C. and for the Christian cause it represents.
