Appendix II REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS To The Board of Trustees The plan for the development of the University suburban property as presented by President Watson at last year's meeting has been formally adopted. To refresh our memories, the plan is to remove the College Depart-ment to the Suburban site. The steps in order to accomplish this purpose are as follows: 1936-39: (1) Task of filling in frontage depression (2) Harmonizing City street planning with our plans (3) Clearing titles to two plots within our area (4) Formulating plans for layout of proposed College grounds (5) Planting trees where driveways are plotted (6) Shifting the tenants' and workers' village to unused site (7) Explore possibilities of sale of land not needed. The filling in along the Pyramid Road has been done, and the city street planning has been made to harmonize with the University's plan. 1939-40: (1) Erect dormitory with maximum capacity for 50 boys and 5 short term teachers, with accommodations for bed and board. (2) Provide driveways and athletic fields (3) Lrect one permanent man's residence. 1940- 1: 1) Transfer all residential students to suburban land (2) Build up a strong athletic program at suburban site (3) Erect two more permanent men's residences 1941-43: (1) Erect one main recitation hall, containing classrooms, study rooms, library, laboratories and executive offices. (2) Erect additional permanent men's residences as needed and as funds are available (3t Continue sale of land not needed. 1943-44: (1) Move College to suburban site. (2) Sell section of City site not required by S.O.S. and Extension Division and Department of Education. Provision for financing this program would be somewhat as follows: (1) Developments outlined for 1936-39 to be covered by $10,000 now allotted to suburban site out of sale of land for street. (2) Annual interest charges to be carried in annual budget.
