1 1 235 IV. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION My last report anticipated the coming of Mr. Donnelly to head up this department. The tragic death of Mrs. Donnelly's mother in an automobile accident developed a situation which blocked the way to Mr. Donnelly's coming. A further search had to be made for some one to serve in this field. Mr. Reece was finally located and received appointment as a member of the faculty of this department. His first task was naturally that of learning Arabic and while the year has given him an opportunity to study his future work it has been language study that has occupied him during the past year and that must engage his attention for at least one more year if he is to become qualified for permanent service.
