Peat of Cairo be approved and appointed for the year 1925-26, and that it be left to the discretion of the Treasurer, Mr. Joseph M. Steele, to decide upon an auditor for the Philadelphia account for the year 1925-26. 139. BY-LAWS Amendments to the By-Laws, as presented by Mr. R. W. AMENDED Harbison, Chairman of the Finance Committee, were unanimously approved, as follows:- Article XI., Section 8, paragraph 2, should read, "The salary for an unmarried professor or associate professor for the first term shall be $1200. Article XI., Section 8, paragraph 3, should read, "The salary for a married or associate professor shall be $1750 for the first term." Article XI., Section 8, paragraph 4, should read, "The salary for a married or unmarried professor or associate professor shall be advanced $100 upon his return to the field for each successive term of service of five years, the limit of such advance being reached when the un-married man is receiving $1500 and the married man $2,050, elusive of children's and other allowances." Article XI., Section 8, paragraph 5 should be omitted and the re-maining paragraphs renumbered accordingly. 140. îdiANDARA Dr. Hill read a letter from Dr. Watson telling of an LAND opportunity to buy the land at the sea-shore at Mandara which is used by the faculty as a summer colorer, at a very reasonable price, $5,000. It was voted to use $5000. It was voted to use $5,000 now and settle later as to whether the Trustees will make this in the form of a loan or a permanent investment. 141. ADJOURNMENT At 1:15 P.M. the meeting adjourned for lunch. During FOR LUNCH the lunch hour, Mr. Lum gave a report on the general character of his work as secretary. Mr. Galt made a ver clear presentation of the difficulties confronting workers in Moslem countries and the importance of education as a means of meeting this problem. An informal period of discussion followed. 142. BOARD RECONVENES At 1:30 P.M., i'amediately following the luncheon, the meeting reconvened. 143. REPORT OF COM; íITTEE The report of the Committee on Education (see ON EDUCLIION Appendix C) , as presented by the Chairman, Dr. W. H. S.
