Ardella was born at New Dayton Alberta on November 4, 1914. She married Max Bossert on October 24, 1934. He was killed while serving in World War 11. She later married Sam Bennett who predeceased her in 1975. Ardella was an active member of the L.D.S.. Church. She is survived by two sons, LaVoy (Florence) of Magrath, Glen (Shauna) of Rigby, Idaho; four daughters LaBeana (Jim) Heggie of Raymond, C^rol (Allan) McCoy of Magrath, Marie (Michael) Bryks Tablecloths of St. Michaels, Alberta and Geneal (Brian) Edwards of Fort Macleod; one brother Glen Nate of Magrath, one sister Ethel Seely of Alder Flats; 30 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numer- 100% Polyester ous nieces and nephews. . Special musical rendition was a violin solo "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" by Lori Braith­waite accompanied by Carol Lowry. A tribute to his mother was given by Glen Benett. Speaker for the service was Cal Alston. The closing hymn was a vocal solo "In The Garden" sung by L. B. Tanner and accompanied by Vinessa Hamilton. Carol McCoy offered the benediction. Honorary Pallbearers were nephews and Loren Critchfield. Active Pallbearers were Clark Bossert, Dale Bossert, Justen Bennett, Tavis Heggie, James C. Heggie, Kim Bossert, Ashley Bryks, Blaine Heggie Thomas Heggie, Brian Bossert, Ronald McCoy, Jason Edwards and Rodney Bennett. COUNCIL BRIEFS - JANUARY 12, 1988 Lehi School: The Museum Committee would like to restore the old Lehi School as closely as possible to its orig­inal state portraying the one room classroom setting. The Town will determine the costs involved in relocating the school to the old mill property. Arena: Heaters have been installed into the spectator section of the arena. They will operate during games _ and tournaments, not during practices and public skating as costs for operations would be too high. Glenbow Museum: Motion passed to give permission to Glen-bow Museum to photocopy or microfilm historically and legally significant' records (minutes, by-laws, financial statements, correspondence) in the town office. Cablesystem: Motion passed to write a letter to WI Cable­systems of Medicine Hat stating that the Town does not1 oppose their application to the CRIC to provide cable television to the Town. . Highway History: A request consider purchasing advertis­ing in the Highway History-Routes series was received by the Town. The booklet relates histories of conrnun-ities in Alberta that are along the main Highwaya routes. Motion passed to advertise in the booklet. Chinook Foundation: The Maintenance Canndttee of the Foundation carried out thorough inspections of its lodges and highly praised the condition of the Diamond Willow Terrace. The conmittee. felt that exceptional work had been done and that those handling the housekeeping re­sponsibilities were also to be ccnmended. As a result of the report, it was decided that a full-time maint­enance person would be hired for the Chinook Lodge as all the duties could not be fullfilled by a part time position. ’ Financial: Motion passed that Council establish a goal of having $150,000 cash balance at the end of each year to cover the first months of operating. The 1987 Fin­ancial statement showed that the Town ended the year with a $53,000 operating surplus due to higher than expected revenues in some areas and low: expenditures in others. Considerations for using this years sur­plus funds including paying out debentures that are near the end of their term, fire truck repairs, am­bulance purchase. Ag Society: The Ag Society held a reorganizational meeting on January 11/88. A full executive compris­ing of 12 members was put into place. Application was made for a $15,000 grant which would be applied to­wards activités promoting the growth and development of individuals especially young people. Recreational. Board: Town representatives serving on the Recreational Board included Neil Nordquist, Karen Alston Kathleen Harker, Shirley Dahl., Arlen Bennett, Brad Sabey. Library: The Library has scheduled February 29/88 for an Open House celebrating 50 years of service. They will be honoring past Librarians, Board Chairmen and executive as well, as they intend to conusance a build­ing fund campaign for a new library. Ambulance: Councilor Groenhof will be meeting with Craig Bennett, Fire Chief, Ervin Hovey, Hospital Adminstrator and other conmittee members to discuss ambulance serv­ice to the Town. Fire Truck: Councilor Groenhof felt that serious consid­erations had to be given for fire truck repairs or re­placement this coming year. Band: Councilor Groenhof moved that congratulations be extended to The Spirit of Alberta for their performances in California and for the fine representation they were of Magrath and Alberta. In their first game they shut out Raymond 5-0. Dustin Harker scored 3 while Michael Balderson and Tanner Godionton had one each. Game Allstars were Justin Harker, Joey Zomber and Darren Raider son was was outstanding in goal.. In their second game they’ tied Cardston 3-3. Michael Balderson scored twee with assists to Adam Mehew. J.R. Thompson got the other goal. Game All­stars ’.-rre JR Thompson, Michael Balderson and Ryan Fuhrmann. In the championship game they came up against a strong Elkford B.G. team and were defeated 8-0. Game Allstars were Barth Reigling, Matthew Stan­ford and Tanner Godionton. Magrath Lions Club held "District Governors Night" on Tuesday evening, February 2nd and honored District' Governor Richard M. "Shorty" and Ethel Graves of Great Falls, Montana. A delicious Chinese Supper was enjoyed by Lions and their wives at the Fortune Drive In prepared by Aster & Charles Tang. District Governor Graves gave a very interesting and informative address to the Lions at the Magrath Trading Company Social Hall telling about a recent trip to Taiwan where he attend­ed a Lions Convention. He also spoke on the Lions Eye Bank and the C.N.I. Dogs. He was intdduced by Lion Ken Balderson. Vice President Howard Ririe was in charge of the evening.
