Fortner of Spring Coulee, AB. passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan­uary 18, 1990 at the age of 71 years. Born in Spring Coulee on March 27, 1918 to Leo and Lillian Chapman, Florence married Bill on April 21, 1937. Besides her loving husband she is sur­vived by three sons: Garth (Dorothy) Chapman of Lethbridge; Clare Fortner of Lethbridge and Craig (Debra) Fortner of Ottawa; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her brother Murray Chapman. "Mom, we loved you dearly while you were here and we love you deeply now that you are gone. We pray to our Father in Heav­en that. He will bring you hone and give you peace and rest until we meet again. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen". Cremation. A Family Memorial Service ' will be held at home. HARDWARE DEPARTMENT MAGRATH ATOM "B" HOCKEY Magrath played host to the Taber Atom A Blackhawks on Wednesday, January 17th in an exciting exhibition game. Although we came out on the short end of a 6-4 score, we gave them a run for their money. The ■ first period ended with Taber leading 2-0 In the second period Bart Bullock and Tommy Lee each scored one to tie the score at 2-2. In the third, Bart Bullock scored again and Greg Henry added one, but not enough as Taber scored 4 goals to our 2. Assists went to Trevor Panczak, David Orr, Bart Bullock, Tommy Lee and Greg Henry - 2. Greg Bourne did a great job in net. On Thursday, January 18th the Atom B team Travelled to play a hard fought battle against our arch rivals in Raymond when we were defeated 5-4. Magrath1s goals were scored by Lome McKelvey - 2; David Orr - 1 Tommy Lee - 1; assists to Matt Chatwin 1. Greg Bourne did a great job in net. • TADPOLES Wade's Tadpoles played an exhibition game against a Lethbridge team and came up winners. This was Lethbridge's first game on a full rink snstead of the half ice they are used to playing on. January 19th and 20th trie Novice Hockey team went to a tournament in Raymond. In our first, game on Friday we beat the Raymond team 4-3. Goal scorers were Justin Harker 3 goals; Darren Balderson 1 goal. Assists went to Matthew Stanford, Justin Shurman, Darius Mandel, Michael Balderson all with 1 assist each. Joey Ripley played great in net stopping 29 of 32 shots. The second game ended ir a tie with Warner with the score of 6 to 6. The team played ex­cellent as we were down 6 t.o 2 at one time. Goals and assists were: Michael Balderson 3-1; Justin Harker 2-2; Kurtis Robinson 1-0; Justin Shurman 0-J. ’ The tie wic’n Warner put us in the final Saturday night against Coaldale. The kids - played good but care up short against the strong; Coaldale ; earn losing by a socre of 7-1. Darren Balderson scored with Doug Orr getting the assist.. The boys all played great. In the first game we played Picture Butte and were defeated 8-2. First goal was scored by Mason Dahl and the second goal by Dustin Ririe. Chris Chatwin did a good job as goalie. Right after the Picture Butte game we played Raymond and came up on top 15-2. Chris Chatwin put in his first career goal and then added 2 more for a hattrick. Dustin Ririe - 6 goals & 1 assist; Mason Dahl - 3 goals (hattrick);' Denver Wetheralt - 1 goal & 1 assist; Rhonda Strate - 1 goal and 1 assist; Braedon Balderson - 1 goal. Darren Bevers did a good job in net. In our 3rd and final game we played Warner and came up with a 12-6 win. Josh Heggie opened the scoring with tne first goal of his career. Mason Dahl - hattrick and 2 assists; Rhonda Strate - hattrick & 1 assist; Dustin Ririe - hattrick & 1 assist; Braedon Balderson - 1 goal; Denver Wetheralt - 1 goal; Cody Ririe - 1 assist. Goal tending duties were shared by Denver Wetheralt, Darren Bevers and Braedon Bald­erson . The kids all had a good time and they played really well. J.R.
