Our water bill jumped from $3.06 to $8.56 from July 23 to August 11, nineteen days. This month our bill to the Calgary Power was $57.38. We hate to think what it will be three months hence- If all citizens are being gouged like this, it is time the franchise was canceled forthwith. One councilman told us the Company didn't object to people shutting off the water as they could close down their pumping unit that much sooner. We hope all the councilmsn didn't swallow this nonsense. Imagine paying 250 for 625 gallons of water. or qoq cu. feet of water. This sum ler we installed a pumping unit for irrigation water with a 30 foot lift and a capacity of 1200 gallons per minute. At the Calgary Power Co's, rate that would bo 5C0 a minute, '$30.00 an hour, or $720,CO per day and night.
