M---- William Martin, Hillspring, was in the Store Friday. He has 1500 bushels of Persian rye for sale. This rye took first at. the Royal in Toront and second at the International in Chicago. He would have received first at the International in Chicago but a beginner is only allowed second prize. The man he beat at Toronto won over him at Chicago, Last year it yielded 46 bushels to the acre and the year before 56 bushels. It is a large plump kernel, about as large again as the average sample of rye. We asked Mr. Martin why he didn’t advertise and he answer­ed by saying that everyone knew he had it. His picture appeared in the Lethbridge Herald last fall. We remind­ed Mr. Martin we had never heard of him nor seen his picture and probably thousands of other people were the same. The following actors and actresses played their parts real well: Eldred Hudson, L, B, Tanner, Carol Holman, Meade Wood, Fontella Rasmussen, Dora Strang, Effie Bennett, Ruth Austin, Lorin Low and Clifford Miller. "The Big Four" - Jack Bridge, Jim Harker-, Howard Fletcher and Reed Bennett - sang several appropriate numbers and Charles Harker with his accordian gave numbers in­between acts and also envlivened the show. ....................... Tanner sang one of her songs "Oh, My Father", and Mrs, Myrtle Passey read one of her poems. Two one-act plays were presented, one by A. B. Crihfield and daughter Pat, and the other by the Grade X actors, Mrs. Sadie Taylor conducted "Quiz” and prizes went to J, H, Bridge and B, W, Dow. ■The Sunshine Committee of both wards did the catering and dance music was supplied by Verd’s Old Tyme Orchestra. A good time was had by all. •Mr. Asel Passey herding sheep on the i Milk River in the recent storm fed a load \ of hay to the band. The first half was very, very even and the half-time score read 22 to 21 for the M. H. S. Then the last half produced the fireworks, sparked by Ira and Max the Blue Gold sank shot after shot and won, going away with a 56-32 score.
