Gorton Rich Sabey, R.C.A.L.C, were heli Sunday afternoon at the let Ward Chapel with Bishop Ira C. Fletcher conducting the services. . Military honors were accorded him at Currie Barracks, Calgary on Friday morning. Lance-Cpl. Paul Tomick of the R.C.A.S.C. accompanied the body and was luerd of Honor at the funeral in Magrath. The choir under the direction of Mr. Howard Fletcher and Mrs. Nyal Fletcher sang the hymns ”1 Need Thee Every Hour" and “I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go". Mrs. J. B. Harker and Mr. lulon Harker sang "In The Garden" accompanied by Irs. D. H. Keeler. Mr, Reece Gibb sang the vocal solo "0 My Father" accompanied on the organ by Mrs, D. H. Keeler. Speakers were Elders Earl Harker and A. R. Briggs. Prayers were offered by G. G, Woolley and Bishop Elmer Ririe. The pallbearers were members of the A Basket­ball teams Fred Briggs, Jack Bridge, Bill Gibb, Don Woolley, Cal Alston and Wesley Rice. Gordon leaves to mourn his loss: his parents Mr. and Mrs, Lloyd Sabey, one brother Blair and three sisters, Beryl (Mrs. Foster Bectell) of Carway, Udene and Darlene Sabey, Out-of-town mourners present were: Mrs. Charlie Findley of Cardston, Ir. and Mrs. Rich Bennett, Mr, aid Mrs. Evans Sabey, Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Harker ef Raymond, Mr. and Mrs. Armand Sabey of Diamond City, Gordon was an outstanding student at High School and was a star player on the B Basket­ball team last year when they won the Alberta Championship. Since joining the Army in December he was chosen leader in marching in his platoon anl showed marked skill in his target practice. - .... V--------------------------------------- Mr. Jonathan Smith, old tine resident of Magrath passed away at the hone of his daughter Mrs. Ellen Thompson at Welling on Sunday, after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at Raymond. ------------------------------...............— V---------------------------------- Monday Jack Masterton had a 11 months old Hereford bull calf in his truak for the McIntyre Ranching Co. The bull came direct from the Denver Bull Salo. He is one of those ha^vy, low­down calves, wide and deep. The highest price bull at the sale sold for $8,750.00. Undoubtedly, the cause of the lack of substantial surpluses of baef today is, to a large extent, the low prices of ten years ago. In October, 1933, cattle prices reached their record lows, the average price of all cattle at Winnipeg in that month being only $1,65 a hundredweight. The average price of all cattle at the Union stockyards, Toronto, during November, 1933, was only $2.95 a hundredweight." -/nd T. There were only a few present. Taxpayers care little what happens. Mayor T. A. Carter occupied the chair for the town and chairman Earl Harker for the School Board. The Town i3 in bad shape, Lxpenses are enormous for a town the size of Magrath. No irrigation or road work was done this year. Wallace Du Iley reported that school collections were better than usual. The school employed a collector. If the town doesn't move, the bondholders intend to. A meeting for the end of the month is scheduled. If any ratepayers are interested they can call at the Town Hall and get a financial statement. ---------------------------- -------------- y --- --------------------------------------- Rex Killer of the R.C.A.F. stationed at Dauphin, Manitoba took a navigation trip with his Pilot Officen from Dauphin, to Winnipeg, to Prince Albert, to Saskatoon, where they refueled and saw Max Harker and sore of the other Magrath boys, from Saskatoon to Hegira and back to Dauphin in seven hours. -------------------------------------------V----------------------------------------------- REORGANIZATION MELTING WEDNESDAY - TOWN HALL FOR THE WAR FINANCE COMMITTEE Mr. Caudwell of Lethbridge, District Organizer of the War Finance Committee met with the local committee. We were three miles west of atringham's yesterday. Snow isvvery deep. During the 4C below cold spell, cattle drifted for days, up and down the Milk River without feed or shelter. Hundreds of cows have frozen udders. When cattle have to lie down in leep snow or stand for days without rest they lose flesh rapidly. South east of town we passed one bunch of thin cattle. One rider, by the horn of the siddle, was pulling two large calves by the hind legs through snow 1-g- feet deep. The calves had played out.
