In 1957 there were at least 15 Champion employees who were ordained ministers. Most of their pastoral duties took place outside of work, but when a special service was needed during work hours Champion often gave release time. In this photograph, we see that family bible reading is a regular custom with George Ingle (center) pastor of the Center of Pigeon Baptist Church. Reverend Ingle is employed in Champion’s Plant Engineering Department. From left to right are his sons, Allison, 15; Charles, 18; and Dale, 16; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Stiles; and his wife, Alta.
