City To Be Shut Three Weeks To Check Epidemic

• Denver police are ordered to arrest anyone who burns leaves. The order not to burn leaves has not been fully obeyed. • Public urged to cover mouth and nose with a handkerchief when coughing or sneezing• Three weeks is thought to be the “run” of influenza. Expected that the closure order will last for the full 3 weeks. • Dr. Sharpley: “The closing of Denver depends wholly on the spread of the disease. It will be naturally, absolutely necessary for the city to be closed while there is any danger. The main danger now menacing Denver is from outside towns and strangers arriving in the city from various sections of the country where the scourge is prevailing. However, with the present vigilance I am hopeful that we have the disease under control and that it will not reach the point where it can be termed an actual epidemic.”• Other cities throughout CO are following Denver’s lead and closing their public places. • Cheyenne, WY is of concern to Denver’s residents because there is a great deal of traffic between the cities. Cheyenne has also shut down their public places.
