Ischemic damage to the brain poses a long-term disability or even death. Endogenous recovery cannot fully restore functionality by itself, leading to deficits in cognition and motor function. This thesis investigates microenvironmental changes mediated by the molecules interleukin 6 (IL-6) and SorCS2 in murine models of ischemia. Our first study focuses on the effect of the inflammatory cytokine IL-6 in carotid stenosis, evaluating changes in the brain parenchyma and other associated factors.
