The 108 experimental animals were divided into three groups, receiving 0 %, 5 %, and 10 % ground grass respectively. The mean crude fibre content of the grass was 21.2 %/dry matter, and 1.23 kg of the grass was equivalent to 1 fodder unit (1 kg barley). Two-factor analysis of variance showed that there was a highly significant difference in daily gain between the control group and those groups receiving the grass. Partial regression analysis of the simultaneous effects of % ground grass and total fodder units on the daily gain gave regression coefficients of –5.767 and –1.116 respectively. The combined coefficient of determination in the daily growth of these two factors was 74 %. Fodder consumption per kilo weight increase and the feeding ...
